PRIVACY

What we do with your information.

In plain English, because a privacy notice nobody can read is not transparency.

The short version

We collect as little as possible. We do not sell your data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not add you to a mailing list because you filled in a form.

When you get in touch

If you email us, call us, or book a call, we receive whatever you choose to tell us, typically your name, contact details and something about your business. We use it to reply to you and, if we end up working together, to run that work.

We keep enquiries for up to two years so we have a record of conversations, then delete them.

If you use the contact form, what you type goes to Formspree, who pass it straight to us by email. We receive your name, email address, company if you give one, and your message. To stop the form being abused by bots, Cloudflare Turnstile runs a background check when you submit it; it sets no cookies and does not track you across sites.

When you book a call

The booking calendar on our contact page is run by Calendly. When you book, they collect your name, email address and the time you chose, and send it to us. Their own privacy notice covers what they do with it.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to see which pages people find useful, so we can improve the site. It is switched off until you press Accept on the cookie notice. If you press Decline, or ignore it, no analytics cookies are set at all.

As well as which pages get read, we record a few specific actions, so we can tell what the site is actually being used for: when someone follows a link to book a chat, or taps our phone number, email address or LinkedIn page; which FAQ questions get opened; and whether someone who started filling in the contact form went on to send it. We never record what you typed. If the form stops you because a field needs fixing, we record which field it was and not what was in it. This is all part of analytics, so it only happens if you accepted.

We store your choice in your own browser so we do not ask again. The cookie notice runs on our own site rather than through an outside company, so your choice is not handed to a third party. You can change it any time from Cookie settings at the bottom of any page, or clear it by clearing your browser data for this site.

We also keep a record of the choice itself, because the law expects us to be able to show that we asked properly. That record holds the reference number the cookie notice generated, which of the categories you allowed, the wording you were shown, the page you were on and the time. It does not contain your IP address, your name or your email address. The reference number is random rather than anything about you, though because the same number sits in your browser it can be matched back to that browser, so we treat the record as personal data and describe it here rather than calling it anonymous. We keep one whether you accept or decline. It is stored in our own Firebase project, it is never used to contact you or to build a profile, and we delete records after two years. If you want yours removed sooner, send us the reference number from the Cookie settings panel and we will delete it.

Who we share things with

Only the services that make the site work: Firebase Hosting (Google) serves the site, Calendly handles bookings, Formspree delivers contact form messages to us, Cloudflare Turnstile screens that form for bots, Google Fonts supplies the typefaces, and Google Analytics counts visitors once you have accepted. Nobody else.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on the UK's approved safeguards for international transfers.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@weirwoodconsulting.co and we will sort it within a month, usually much sooner.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
